Your Treatment

You have had Aqualyx fat dissolving injection treatment to liquefy stubborn pockets of fat deposits. Aqualyx treatments have an excellent safety profile, they contain deoxycholic acid, which is produced by the body in the liver to aid digestion of fat.

What to Expect

• Allow yourself time to rest and recover after your treatment

• You may experience itching, stinging, redness or warmth in the treatment area. These will subside after a few hours to days

• You may experience swelling and bruising after your treatment. These should subside after 7-10 days

• Your skin may feel tender to touch, this will subside. You may gently massage the area, and indirectly apply a cold compress for short periods of time

• In very rare cases, there may be nodules, skin necrosis, abscess, haematoma or infection at the treatment site. Please contact the clinic and seek immediate medical attention should this occur

• Please contact clinic if you have any concerns or questions following your treatment

Post Treatment Aftercare Advice

• Do not apply cosmetics to the treated area within 12 hours following your treatment

• Avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation e.g. sunlight, UV radiation and saunas

• Avoid strenuous physical exercises/activities for 7 days

• Keep hydrated by drinking at least 2L of water daily to help your body flush out the excess waste

• It is important to keep a healthy diet and light exercise during the course of your treatment, as the released fatty acids are converted into additional energy, which can be stored in an alternative fat depot.

• Keep the treatment area clean and dry

• The skin may initially feel tender to touch, this will subside. You may gently massage the area to ease and a cold compress may be indirectly applied for short periods of time

• Avoid smoking, as this could prevent you from healing properly

Follow up Information

• We recommend a follow up review 2 weeks after your treatment session

• Depending on the density of subcutaneous fat present, treatment area and goals, you may require 3-8 treatment sessions 4 weeks apart.

• Treatment results are typically visible after your second treatment, but may take up to 12 weeks

• Treatment is limited to targetting pockets of subcutaneous fat, but not suitable for overall weight loss

• Please contact the clinic immediately if you experience any unexpected side effects or have any concerns regarding your treatment.
