Skin Booster
Your Treatment
You have been treated with a skin booster, which is made from hyaluronic acid, a sterile and transparent naturally occurring gel. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance present in the human body, over time, it slowly dissolves, causing no harm. Worldwide, they are one of the most requested non-surgical cosmetic treatment, which are effective for rehydrating, redensifying and protecting your skin from environmental damages. They are available in different formulations to give your face a younger, naturally rejuvenated appearance.
What to Expect
Allow yourself time to rest and recover after your treatment
You may experience some tingling, burning, swelling, tenderness, itching or bruising at the injection site. These are normal and should resolve after a few days.
Injection site bleeding and redness
If you have a history of cold sores, you might experience a flare up. We will discuss prophylactic treatment with you during your consultation.

Post Treatment Aftercare Advice
Avoid touching or rubbing the treated site for 6 hours. This helps to reduce the risk of infection by allowing the injection sites to close.
Avoid extreme temperatures (e.g. cold, heat, sunbathing, tanning, saunas etc) during the first week
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours following treatment
Do not apply make-up to the treated area for at least 12 hours.
If you are taking anti-inflammatory medications** (e.g. aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen, neurofen etc), you may bruise more easily.
Avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours after treatment
Avoid smoking
**Please adhere to any medications that your G.P. has prescribed to you in their regular doses.
Possible Risks, Complications and Side Effects
Hypersensitivity, Allergic response, Anaphylactic reaction (rare, but can occur)
Lump formation around the treated area
Slight visibility/palpability of the product under the skin.
Bruising which may last up to several weeks
Infection/abscess formation following treatment
Cold sores
Limited or non-response to treatment
Possibility of vascular occlusion (filler injected into a blood vessel, blocking blood flow to the skin area), leading to localized tissue death (necrosis) and/or sloughing, with scab and/or without scab. You may experience skin soreness, coldness, numbing and discolouration. Please contact the clinic immediately in this instance.
Follow up Information
Treatment results generally become apparent after 4 weeks, but may take up to 6 weeks, with results lasting between 18 - 24 months**
To achieve full effect of your treatment, it is important that you attend all treatment sessions: 3 sessions at 3-4 weeks intervals, and a maintenance of one treatment every 4 months.
