The Perfect Peel

Your Treatment

You have been treated with The Perfect Peel, a medium-depth peel, which contains glutathione, kojic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), phenol, salicylic acid, vitamin C, and retinoic acid. The Perfect Peel uses a blend of chemicals to create a controlled injury to the skin. This initiates a process of peeling and healing.

What to Expect

  • Allow yourself time to rest and recover after your treatment.

  • You will be provided with a Homecare kit to use at home, please follow the instructions.

  • You may experience a slight tingling during the application, but this should resolve after a few minutes.

  • You may experience some irritation and discomfort for up to 10 days, or longer in some cases.

  • You will experience skin peeling a few days after your treatment. It is important that you do not pick at your skin to avoid scarring.

  • If you have a history of cold sores, you might experience a flare-up. We will discuss prophylactic treatment with you during your consultation.

  • Please contact the Clinic should you have any concerns.

Post Treatment Aftercare Advice

DAY 1 - 2

  • Day 1 is the day the peel was applied by your practitioner.

  • The treated area will feel tight and may appear darker.

  • After application, the peel solution should remain on the treated area for at least 6 hours.

  • During the first 6 hours, do not wash, touch, rub, or apply makeup to the treated area.

  • Avoid makeup application.

  • 15 minutes before bedtime, liberally apply the towelette to the treated area.

  • You may experience some irritation, stinging and discomfort, which are normal and will resolve. Apply a cold flannel to the treated area. If appropriate, your practitioner may advise you to take an antihistamine to calm the itching.

  • Avoid using any moisturising products on the treated area until day 5.

  • Avoid sun exposure, excessive sweating, sauna, or heavy exercise during the peeling process.

DAY 3 - 5

  • Peeling generally begins on Day 3.

  • After peeling begins, apply the Perfect Peel moisturiser (included in your home package) to the peeling areas to control the peeling and relieve the tightness.

  • Allow the peeling to occur naturally. Avoid rubbing, picking, or pulling on the peeling skin, as these actions may cause scarring.

DAY 6 +

  • The peeling process is generally complete. Mild sloughing may still be occurring in some treated areas. You may resume use of your normal skin care products unless otherwise advised by your practitioner. However, if the treated area becomes or remains irritated, wait until the sensitivity subsides. Continue to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen.
