Microneedling

Your Treatment

You have had a microneedling treatment, which creates micro-pricks on your skin to encourage collagen production and enable perfusion of active ingredients. It is important to have a proper healing environment for your skin to recover, thereby boosting the treatment effects.

What to Expect

  • Your skin may be feel sensitive and red, lasting for up to 72 hours

  • You may experience some tingling, burning, swelling, tenderness, pin-prick bleeding or scabbing at the treatment site. These are normal and should resolve after a few days.

  • Your skin may feel tight and dry, and some people experience skin flaking. These are normal and will resolve in a few days

  • Please contact the Clinic should you have any concerns.

Post Treatment Aftercare Advice

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated site for 6 hours. This helps to reduce the risk of infection by allowing the micro-prick sites to close.

  • Leave the plasma and blood on your face for as long as possible

  • Gently cleanse your face with cool, boiled water

  • Pat the areas to dry, do not rub

  • Apply gentle moisturiser to help reduce redness and lock in hydration

  • Avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours after treatment

  • Avoid extreme temperatures (e.g. cold, heat, sunbathing, tanning, saunas etc) for 7 days

  • Ensure you apply SPF 50+ sunscreen every 2 hours during the day

    For 72 hours after the procedure avoid:

  • Make up application

  • Strenuous exercise

  • Topical cosmeceuticals which contain: Glycolic acids (AHAs), Salicylic acids (BHAs), Vitamin C, Retinols

  • Direct sunlight exposure

  • Electric or battery-powered cleansing brushes

  • Swimming

  • Avoid smoking

    **Please adhere to any medications that your G.P. has prescribed to you in their regular doses.

Possible Risks, Complications and Side Effects

  • Hypersensitivity, mild swelling and tenderness

  • Lump formation around the treated area

  • Crust/scab-like formation, which should be resolved after a few days

  • Bruising, although rare

  • Infection following treatment. However this risk is reduced if you follow our aftercare guidance

  • Limited or non-response to treatment

Follow up Information

  • We recommed a course of 6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart to prolong results. Treatment results generally become apparent after 2 weeks, but may take up to 6 weeks.**

  • To achieve full effect of your treatment, it is important that you attend all recommended treatment sessions

  • Please contact the clinic immediately if you experience any unexpected side effects or have any concerns regarding your treatment.

    **Factors such as: your skin structure, your lifestyle, metabolism and your age will influence your treatment result, as well as longevity of cosmetic effect.
