Advanced Electrolysis

Your Treatment

You have undergone an advanced electrolysis treatment to address a variety of cosmetic skin concerns. It treats blemishes and certain types of skin growth to create smoother, more radiant skin. It is safe, powerful and effective. In addition, it can be used almost anywhere on the body for both men and women. Your treatment also included application of a soothing aloe vera cooling gel.

What to Expect

  • Allow yourself time to rest and recover after your treatment

  • You may experience redness and swelling after your treatment. These are normal and should resolve after a few days. You may apply aloe vera to soothe your skin.

  • Scabs or crusts may form on the treated area, and should take 7-14 days to drop off. It is important that you avoid picking or rubbing your skin to avoid scarring.

  • Hypersensitivity and slight tenderness

  • If you have a history of cold sores, you might experience a flare up. We will discuss prophylactic treatment with you during your consultation.

  • Please contact the Clinic if you have any concerns following your treatment.

Post Treatment Aftercare Advice

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated site. This helps to reduce the risk of irritation and inflammation

  • Do not apply make-up to the treated area for at least 72 hours.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure

  • Avoid using aggressive products or those that are perfumed on the treated area

  • Avoid picking or rubbing the scabs or crusts

  • Avoid extreme temperatures (e.g. cold, heat, hot baths or showers, sunbathing, tanning, saunas etc) during the first week

  • Avoid swimming for 72 hours

  • Avoid hot baths or showers for 72 hours

  • Avoid Topical cosmeceuticals which contain exfoliating acids such as: Glycolic acids (AHAs), Salicylic acids (BHAs) and PHAs, and Retinoids for 72 hours

  • Avoid physical exfoliation for a few days after your treatment or until your skin has recovered and redness and scabs or crusts have fallen off

  • Avoid applying fake tan/gradual tanner on the treated area for 2 weeks after your treatment

  • Avoid undergoing any laser or IPL treatments on the treated area

  • Avoid smoking

  • Use a gentle, hydrating facial cleanser and lukewarm water to gently cleanse your face. Pat your skin dry.

  • Apply aloe vera using a clean cotton pad over treated area to soothe the skin

  • We recommend using a light hydrating facial moisturiser

  • Sanitise your phone and use a clean, fresh pillow case

  • Ensure broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen is applied to your face regularly during the day

Possible Risks, Complications and Side Effects

  • Hypersensitivity, Allergic response, Anaphylactic reaction (rare, but can occur)

  • Soreness, itching, scabs or crusts formation on your skin

  • Skin discolouration is extremely rare, but may occur

  • Infection following treatment

  • Cold sores

  • Scarring

  • Limited or non-response to treatment

Follow up Information

  • Treatment results generally become apparent after 10 days, but may take up to 4 weeks**

  • To achieve full effect of your treatment, it is important that you attend a review appointment 4 weeks after your session.

  • Please contact the clinic immediately if you experience any unexpected side effects or have any concerns regarding your treatment.

    **Factors such as your skin structure, your lifestyle, metabolism, skin condition, treatment area and your age will influence your treatment result, as well as longevity of cosmetic effect.
